Myth #1 “The FLU shot is not effective.”
FACT: The seasonal FLU vaccine is effective in preventing influenza in about 70-90% of people and is the best way of protecting you from the FLU.

FACT: Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious respiratory disease that persons of any age can get. It is caused by flu viruses that can lead to serious complications and even death.
Myth #3 “It is not necessary to get a FLU shot every year.”
FACT: Influenza viruses continually change, so the vaccine is different every year.
Myth #4 “The flu shot can cause the flu.”
FACT: It is impossible to get influenza from the vaccine.
Myth #5 “I should not get the flu shot because I am pregnant or breastfeeding.”
FACT: Pregnant women are at risk for influenza complications, and all women who are pregnant or will be pregnant during influenza season should be vaccinated.
Myth #7 “The side effects of vaccination are worse than the FLU.”
FACT: A sore arm is the most likely side effect of getting the injectable flu shot.
Myth #8 “Flu vaccinations are for old people and young kids.”
FACT: Influenza vaccination can benefit anyone over the age of 6 months.
