InHouse Physicians is proud to announce the addition of integrative medicine services at its worksite health clinics. Now employees and their employers can benefit from worksite health care that takes into account the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), emphasizes the therapeutic relationship, and makes use of all appropriate therapies – both conventional and alternative.
What Is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative medicine draws from both complementary medicine and alternative medicine (CAM) and combines these with traditional Western therapies. CAM services that will be available for InHouse Physicians’ client employers and their employees include yoga, meditation, traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture), massage therapy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy, and energy medicine. As always, InHouse Physicians will only offer medical services that are associated with high-quality scientific evidence of safety and effectiveness (evidenced based medicine).
Demand for Integrative Medicine Is Growing.
One of the primary reasons that InHouse Physicians has decided to begin offering integrative medicine services at its worksite medical clinics stems from patient demand. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) recently surveyed Americans on their use of complementary and alternative medicine. The survey found that about 40 percent of adults and 12 percent of children use some form of complementary and alternative medicine. Of note, females ages 40 to 60 and adults with higher levels of education and income tended to use CAM therapies more frequently.
